Howdy, June.

Fare thee well, May.

Come again some other day.

Or year, rather.

And there’s the rub.

A year.

And another year.

And another.

Each one racing by.

Even if we aren’t having fun.

So might as well.

April.

May.

June.

They live year-round as names for girls.

January and July too.

Although not so much these days.

Names go in and out of style.

One thing’s for sure.

Females have been creatively named for centuries.

Some after flowers, gems, and food.

Rose.

Iris.

Daisy.

Violet.

Ivy.

Lily.

Nearly everyone had an Aunt Ruby.

Opal.

Amber.

Pearl.

Crystal.

Beryl.

Bring on the food.

Cherry.

Pepper.

Rosemary.

Olive.

Coco.

Ginger.

Peaches.

Some carry extra meaning.

Faith.

Hope.

Charity.

Chastity.

Joy.

New ones appear daily.

Thanks to the plethora of celebrity babies.

And these are just the female names.

Apple.

Mars.

Willow.

Sage.

Luna.

Liberty.

Moxie.

Sonnet.

Bandit.

Calico.

Sailor.

And let’s not forget Frank Zappa’s daughter,

Moon Unit.

As for the males, there’s Rockets Redglare…

Better save that for another column.
